Types of accommodation
Accommodation options that help you feel at home
Choosing accommodation can be daunting, but we're here to guide you through the different types available, enabling you to make an informed decision.
Our accommodation options range from on-campus halls of residence on both our Bishop Otter (°ËØÔ±¬ÁÏ) and Bognor Regis campuses, to our Student Villages situated to the south of the picturesque city centre of °ËØÔ±¬ÁÏ.
Choose between ensuite and shared style (i.e. with communal bathrooms and kitchens) accommodation, with catered or self-catered packages allocated on a single occupancy basis.
We also have a range of freshly refurbished off-campus properties meeting the growing demand for our brand-new type of studio accommodation, which can be offered as single or dual occupancy.
Our accommodation is allocated by a randomised lottery-based system, based on your submitted accommodation application, which will list your 6 types of accommodation choices (or 3 types for students undertaking a teaching degree).

Halls Versus Home
Choosing the right option
Whether you decide to commute from home, find private housing, or apply for university halls, there is an option for everyone.
It's important to remember that it's a personal decision and you may not immediately know which option will work best for you.
To help you with your decision, we’ve provided a quick summary of the different options.
Adapted and Priority Accommodation
Here to help you find the right room for you
Students with physical disabilities and/or medical conditions may need priority for a particular type of accommodation because of their condition.
For example, you may need priority for ensuite because of a medical condition, priority for self-catered accommodation because of significant dietary conditions, or you may feel it will be a strain for you to be living off-campus because of your condition.
We also have rooms available that feature standard adaptations for wheelchair users.
Each of these rooms is fitted with a panic alarm and has a either a large wet-room with shower seat or shower cubical area with seat, handrails and an additional panic alarm.
Important
Each wheelchair user will have individual requirements depending on their level of mobility, so it's essential to talk to the Disability Coordinator (disability@chi.ac.uk) by 31Â March to make sure we allocate the most appropriate room, and implement any necessary adaptations before your arrival.
Other minor modifications to rooms and residences can be made according to your requirements - talk to the Disability Coordinator Steve O'Melia to discuss your needs on disability@chi.ac.uk.
